Even at a young age, Trisha has had the vision to be of service to Filipinos by rendering quality healthcare service. As for Kenneth, becoming a medical technologist is his stepping stone to becoming a medical doctor in the near future.
Trisha Isobelle Ilumba and Kenneth Andrew Pecho of BS Medical Laboratory Science Class of 2023 are among the 15 recipients of the nationwide search for Handog ng Safeguard: MedTechs ng Kinabukasan Scholars.
A partnership between Safeguard and the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET), the program aims to extend financial support to deserving, intellectually gifted MedTech students around the country.
For these students, the scholarship is more than just a financial aid to their education. “I believe the scholarship is both a privilege and prestige; it can open more windows for me, both in terms of opportunity and being in a better position to influence reforming efforts for the country’s healthcare system,” said Trisha. For his part, Kenneth said, “More than being given support and opportunity by the sponsors, it is also a symbol of inspiration and motivation for students to strive harder and to be the best they can be.”
The scholarship program covers all legal school fees that the recipients need to pay for three years. This includes tuition and miscellaneous fees, non-school fees, and registration fee. They will also receive Php1,000.00 book allowance per semester.
Trisha and Kenneth give credit to College of Allied Health and Sciences Dean Diane Velecina and their professors for supporting them all the way, making sure that accomplish all scholarship requirements during application.
